In 1970, Donna, a nursing student, received a Raggedy Ann doll from her mother as a birthday gift. Donna lived with her roommate Angie in an apartment near Hartford, Connecticut.
Initially, the doll seemed harmless, sitting quietly on Donna's bed. But soon, strange occurrences began to unfold.
The doll started to move independently, subtly changing positions. Then it was found in different rooms. Mysterious notes written on parchment appeared with messages such as 'Help us.'
Donna and Angie sought help from a medium who claimed the doll was inhabited by the spirit of a young girl named Annabelle Higgins. Annabelle felt comforted by Donna's kindness.
Initially moved by the spirit's story, Donna and Angie allowed it to 'stay,' but things grew much worse.
Lou, a friend, claimed the doll attempted to strangle him in his sleep. Another time, he woke up with strange marks on his chest.
Terrified, Donna and Angie consulted Ed and Lorraine Warren, experts in demonic events, who determined it wasn't a young girl, but rather a demon using the doll.
The Warrens took the doll to their museum and placed it in a glass case with a strong caution. 'Positively Do Not Open.'
